What a season it has been so far for Broncos fans

But do the players still have confidence in himOne of the most important factors for a dominant closer is confidence Mariano Rivera is great because he knows you can't hit him. He throws essentially one pitch, but he knows you won't hit it He knows you can't hit his cutter. It's hard to figure out whose opinion to take seriously.Joe Mauer is someone whose opinion should be taken seriously.. ) Playing the hapless Cleveland Browns proved to be the perfect elixir for the Green Bay Packers' offensive struggles. The Packers played their most complete game of the season Sunday, running the ball effectively and keeping quarterback Aaron Rodgers clean and upright for the first time all season.Rodgers was brutally efficient with time in the pocket, completing 15 of 20 passes for 246 yards and three scores as the Browns struggled to mount a pass-rush against the Pack. But the real story was the running of Ryan Grant, who finally broke free for 148 yards and a touchdown on 27 carries.Even though the Browns were without standout linebacker D'Quell Jackson, Grant appeared to run with more purpose on Sunday, running tougher than he has in some time.Perhaps it was the Ahman Green signing that woke him up, or maybe it was just poor tackling, but Grant and the offensive line looked much improved.Grant doesn't need to put up 150 for the offense to be effective, but he does need to be more productive to take pressure off of Rodgers and the passing game.A few more solid games from Grant and defenses will at least have to account for the Packers so-far meek running game.In addition the defense kept up their strong play, albeit against a Cleveland group lacking playmakers and an offensive identity.Green Bay held their second straight opponent under 150 yards of offense and forced two turnovers, an impressive feat no matter the competition. The Packers have now beaten their last two opponents by a combined score of 57-3, exactly the kind of dominance you want to see out of your team against inferior competition. But beating Cleveland convincingly was not the story of the weekend for the Packers. 4 shouldering the offensive load.Let's hope they forget about their defensive back crushing ball-carrier for another week.Leading into the media frenzy that will be Favre Bowl II, the Packers appear to be slowly improving while their division rivals reveal their flaws. After all of the issues on the offensive line and a slow start to the 3-4 transition, the Packers are only a home victory away from being just a half game out of first place in the NFC North. If they can build on their strong performances of the last two weeks and continue to come together, that's not a bad spot to be.. This has some fearing the off-time came a bit too early this season, though it was nothing they could control. The Ravens are a very intriguing matchup for the Broncos, especially on the road. After starting the season 3-0, the Ravens appeared to be one of the NFL's top teams following an impressive 2008 campaign which saw them win 11 games. It appeared as though they were on track to improve on last year's total following victories over Kansas City, San Diego and Cleveland. Then it went downhill. The Ravens lost three straight games by a combined 11 points, including a two-point loss against Minnesota in Week Six on a missed field goal by kicker Steven Hauschka as time expired.Three losses by 11 points would lead one to believe that the Ravens are much better than their record would indicate, and I think they are.For the first time this decade, Baltimore boasts a better offense than they do defense, led by their passing game and quarterback Joe Flacco.Flacco has had an outstanding season so far, but the MVP of Baltimore's offense has to be undersized running back Ray Rice, who leads the team in both rushing and receiving. Rice has rushed for 441 yards and three touchdowns on a six-yard per carry average.

He also has 33 receptions for 325 yards and a touchdown. The Ravens are in the top 10 of every major offensive category and boast the league's ninth-ranked run defense. This is a team that can get out to a large early lead and hold on to it.How will the Broncos counterThe biggest thing for Denver will be running the ball. The Broncos have the league's seventh-best rush offense, but they did not look great running the ball against San Diego for some odd reason. If the Broncos are unable to run the ball, Baltimore will be in the game until the very end, if they haven't already run away with it. Inversely, if the Broncos can run the ball effectively, they will most certainly control this game from the outset.Denver's defense has been absolutely suffocating this season, ranking in the top 10 of every major category.Denver's defense is aggressive. What a season it has been so far for Broncos fans.In a season in which the team was expected to struggle, the team has surged out to a surprising 6-0 start and a three game lead over the Chargers in the AFC West. There have been many great memories so far this year. Here are the top five to date:. No it didn't produce points, but Bailey's deflection of Tony Romo's pass in the final seconds of the game against the Cowboys sealed the Broncos' fourth win and put the league on notice that this Broncos team is for real.. A little bit of a disclaimer here: Numbers two and one could very easily have been switched. However, Stokley's 87-yard catch and run was a bit more luck than skill. That said, this play has catapulted the Broncos to a 6-0 start and this early win, as lucky as it was, gave this team the confidence it needed going forward.. There are a couple big reasons why this play is number one over Stokley's miracle grab and run.1.

Marshall showed pure athletic skill with his feet avoiding the Cowboys defense and getting in the end zone. His ability to avoid the tackle showed why Marshall is one of the best in the game. You can't coach that stutter move he put on the Cowboys. It was pure skill.2. After the touchdown, and again during McDaniels' post-game press conference, Marshall shared a very emotional and very real embrace with his head coach. At this moment you knew that Marshall, the unhappiest of Broncos during training camp, was on board with this program. It was this play and the celebration after that Broncos fans knew that they indeed had a very special team to call their own.. There having been many other plays during the Broncos season thus far that were quite good but not quite enough to make the top five. Here are a couple:1. Insert Elvis Dumervil Sack HereThe man has been on a tear so far this year and he should be considered a frontrunner for defensive player of the year along with a trip to the Pro Bowl unless the Broncos are playing in Super Bowl XLIV of course. 2.Tony Scheffler's 52 yard catch and run against the ChargersIt set up the game clinching touchdown and showed the Broncos have a tight end capable of breaking big runs.. It has been an incredible run so far. Here's hoping these top five from the first six game pale in comparison to the top five from the final ten.Could this magical Broncos run end in Miami with the Broncos bringing home the Lombardi Trophy It very well could if the energetic wunderkid that is Josh McDaniels has anything to say about it.Stay tuned..
